A new song idea thats hopefully going to be used by Sapper.  Originally called “Polygamist” with the intent of expressing my outsiders view of the Fundamentalist Mormons way of life.  I changed it’s direction early on after realizing how hard it was to state a differing opinion without it sounding  rant like and bluntly offensive.   So, I re-wrote the lyrics and shifted the focus to extreme religion in general.  Actually did a lot of reading about various cults/sects and their leaders and beliefs.. Actually pretty engrossing reading, in a fucked up kind of way…     anyway…

Only one guitar track as I’m the only guitarist in the band now, so I didnt layer anything we cant do live..   A few clicks and pops in the recording that need fixing, and the bridge vocals sound a bit weird – so I might redo those at some point..  But overall I think it’s pretty spiffy for a reference track..

Brad Green – Blinded Hand

One of our new ones thats almost complete.  Our second “hybrid reference” tune.   Hybrid being:  song parts written and recorded by Brad,  arranged over skype with Dave, and drums added by Mr Jones as directed.   A very quick fresh written lyric vocal layover with Mike and a couple of Brad harmonies.   Rough around the edges as this is what we use to learn the song.  Only jammed on it a few times as a band but its getting there..   Planning to play it at our next gig (a week away).  Changes? Recommendations?

Sapper – Fast Way

The first real jam of a new song idea.  Came together really fast – about 30 mins at this point.    That rarely happens for us.

Brad got a bit carried away in the solo – but its was just a jam..  so no harm no foul..

Vocals are totally unwritten at this point.  Any ideas on style?

Sapper – Hitchhiker

Its taken some time..  but we’ve kept ol Sapper kicking..   we were forced too abandon almost all our old material, find a new singer,  2nd guitarist and bass player………  then,  jam for a few months to get an idea of how we sound with everyone’s input..  then write a bunch of songs as a band that we actually all kinda like..  haha..         you get the idea…  starting over sucks..  but we’re finally ready to play shows again…  thank fucking christ… Heres us live in the jam room with overdubbed vox – mostly completed but a few sections were we are lost..  as per usual..  some old some new..  11 songs written so far..

Unsaid..

White Noise..

The old one I never quite finished – but the DJ-TH cover resurrected..  with the lead git into the swell/fade outro vox..        I’m happy to call this one cooked..

Runaway w\ Mike Live

And our simple pub rock favorite .. done all lazy like….

Keep it Clean

A small portion of a song i’m trying to create from a recording I made a good while back of a mate that plays Didge..   a very different idea trying to write to a mostly monotone instrument..  cool though.. I hate the hi-hat in this but it’s a very early export.. gonna be a loooong song I suspect..  but thats cool.. i’m not out to wow people with beats or riffs in this one..  just aiming for a cool vibe..  mix needs work, but hell.. i’m making it up as I go!..  any advice on direction from here would be cool..

Open (intro only)

A live home recording of George and I writing and working on a tune..  Dont think the band ever really took a shine to this song, but I think it’s one of my better ones..  I never totally finished it..  Foot timing stomps and background prompting are loud due to the wood floors and high celing in the loungeroom – an awesome room for acoustic jamming though..  Live off the field recorder.

Another quality Rawcut post for us..  This is a two part dealie..  The first was just Jeff and Brad making stuff up on the spot to kill time while we waited for the other guys to arrive and set gear up.. Found out Kim (vocal) wasnt gonna make it as Liaf rolled in.. We jsammed on the chords later in the evening – and this is what it was..  Laif slotted in really well – he never heard the earlier jam..  Vocals are well, plain nasty in many many places..  Not great at making lyric melodys up on the spot while playing..   enough excuses..  haha…   Were happy to let others hear us be wayward..  Just a jam, and not near a song..  Ugly in parts, but it moves itself along..   hmm.. that could be a lyric………

Waiting to Jam

Pay attention now – This is deadly serious.  From the depths of pop culture, comes a new band destined for stardom, from left to right the band (keith – vocals, tom – drums, stevie whales – guitar and robin – bass) hubristicly strike a chord with audiences from far and wide and touch on some of the key dynamics that make or break most bands in its wake. Enjoy…

Euthanize

A mid complete tune I recovered from an old corrupt harddrive this weekend..  I really plan on finishing this as I’m actually a fan of the bridge..  This is about 7yrs old – recorded when i 1st got to parkes back in 2003.  HDD crashed before i finished it, so its rough and ragged.. I didnt change anything before I posted it so I could compare to my newer stuff..   Needs work.. but I think the bridge is enough to motivate me to finish it.. and there is a big gaping hole for an acoustic  solo – sweeeett… hehe

Creeping

This tune went through many variations while I was messing with different vocal ideas and lyrics but I kinda like how it turned out. The bridge vocal style was bold new ground for me – so please be kind with the comments! Had to give it a try! . Now stop reading and go rock out!

Friend or Foe

A loose idea named P.B because we kinda thought it sounded like that style. We have since decided to try and get away from this kinda “generic rock” style so this song has been abandoned. Fun to play and may be kept as an emergency song for live gigs that we can improvise over to make more dynamic. Improv lyrics and dancing.
Live in the jam room, recorded on the field recorder.
