Woot! first post……i think….lol, (just in case i’m second "i mean just kidding") sorry Jack! ok…ok….Nate and John: first off, huge sounding guitar riff to start….love it, love John’s percussion little accent’s throughout the track, whilst still keep a huge sounding thumping beat….tidy…nate, your vocals are ridiculous, lol, initially i thought he’s containing something in the verse but building nicely, but then the chorus breaks out and freaking hell, lol, you nail the melody spot on, "you will break DOWN!" the down note is different than i though but f’ing lovely, uplifting in a really nice way…. , love the melody change from the verse to chorus….silky smooth like honey, tastes sweet like nectar….lol…again drums sounding accent perfect, little lifts very tidy, then the bridge hits and wowser, vocals switch to inside out and sound stellar, bassline is noticeably awesome sounding, nice ride and lifts again on drums, the build up in the bridge is pretty nice, vocals make it in my opinion, and outro is very fitting to tie it all together….and drum outro? madness John, love it, i can’t do that with a damn sequencer let alone for realskies…lol …..overall my first (i think) 5 star rating…..keep sending this stuff my way please….
Ok, well a tidy shrudel, a tidy shrudel gentleman,.. I’m amazed that was Nate singing then,.. I thought it was a different vocalist until Daiyv indicated above that it was Nate, you’ve got a broad possession of different bird calls it appears,….amazed!, nice range Nate, nice range,… the pressure of this tune was very intrusive and edgey, the drumming is obviously skillful, but would have just in my perspective of preference preferred the machine-gun drum solo wedged neatly into the song somewhere, I had the feeling the song ended and then the tail was pinned on the donkey, but it was a standing ovation of a solo that’s for sure,..The formation of the lyrics, the structured length of the words were being drawn out too consistantly, I guess I would have preferred them to be mixed up a bit more, in tempo and in note length,..probably would have liked a little bit of a structural shake-up, just a little extra stimulant,.. however I wasn’t annoyed by it in anyway,.. it was a pleasant pocket to be floating in all the way through,.. there’s no ‘real faults’ ..it’s just a matter of taste for me, and my dessert, would have a little more ruffling, some air, and some more fitted twists,..
Warm welcome back Nate,.. and welcome to Freelabel John,..
The song’s good,.. 74%
Yep.. killer riff.. guitar and bass sucked me right in from the get go.. very bloody nice.. I’ve told nate this before but hell.. why not let the world know – i love your drummer – lol.. cymbal/hat/ride accents are skillful and freaking beautiful – very well done, and obviously the drum outro, albieit a bit gimmicky, freakin loved it… .. ..
The vocals are not what i expected after hearing to the "vocalless" inprog cut.. Not what i was imagining at all…but oh so much much much cooler!.. fantastic work in that department!! .. .. . OK, now the nasties! I really didnt like the mix at all.. for a non live recording it needs more dynamic range.. Kinda woofie with too much short delay/mush on the vocals.. I couldnt attach to the vox as much as i’d liked too because of it.. just no "sparkle" to catch my ear (purely EQ wise – the performance itself sounds awesome).. Dont be shy to boost the treble.. the cymbals and your vox really would be much more dynamic with a treble boost.. the mix right now is way too mid range for me..
Really dig the bands sound man.. i cant fault the song or playing at all.. you work very well together.. (err.. actually.. is this the band or just you and john?) .. more more more!
When this song first fired up I had visions of flanel shirts, ripped jeans and scuffed Docs stomping in my head. The first riffs sounded a lot like early 90ish Sound Garden. I actually picked up my bass dropped tuned to D and grooved along. Fun stuff. The chorus change was smooth and the dreamy drop off at 3 minutes gave it a cool spatial feel. I am curious about the effect that was used on the bass track during that section. Sounded really cool. I’m with Mangrove on the drum solo, bit. Sounded out of place at the end of the song. It was a great solo! Sounded like the follow up act at a talent show that didn’t get properly introduced in between performances. I struggled with the vocal sound to this song. The vocal track sounded like it was floating on top and wasn’t melded into the mix. Maybe the effect on the vocal track threw it for me. Maybe that was your design? Not sure. I think this would be a tough sound for most singer to pull off. That being said, Nate you are very talented and nice work.
At any rate, please don’t take offense to my input. I liked the song as it displays your talents in writing and recording…..that being said I wish I had written it 🙂 4 stars from me and looking forward to more from you guys.
Awesome incision Jefa,.. keep em’ comin’ mate … you aint no ‘Simoner’…
The drum outro was not planned. It was just a test of the drum sounds and mix and I left it on when I sent the track to Nate. I never planned it being part of the song.
Thanks for all of the feedback guys it helps us head in the right direction. II really am digging my collaborations with Nate. He is one talented dude.
Sweet solo anyway Necromancer, sweet solo.
that bridge is really nice man.. suits your voice perfectly.. i know its your normal style, and maybe its boosted because its such a separation from the main riff.. either way.. that section into the lead really grabs me.. not sure i could handle an album of it though.. i think your on a good thing with this framework…
