DATE – Suede

So this is a track that has been lingering for a little while, it was done a little while ago, it’s incomplete and that why its here in RAWCUTS. This started out life as and Dave J and Nate (DATE) track and there was a hint of someone playing bass on this too but yet to come to fruition. There are many things that need attention in this track, like the intro is less than par, maybe the verse drums are too hard hitting, the bridge is cool but maybe to different and the end maybe too long. Nate’s vox are stellar as usual, the understated style is awesome here but, more vox are needed to make it come to life. I thought this would would be a good stage to throw this on for some feedback, i know Nate and myself are keen on this track and will finish it, but just need the motivation….

THis sounds pretty cool Dave shows your 4 dimentional writing skills. Sounds very clear and profesional. Not my stlye as far as what I like in a song. But who gives a fuck about what i have to say.
A little safe the vocals for this.Doesnt stick in the brain not sure if it should but sounds typical and a little bland especially compared to your other tunes.
You 2 have a fucking high standard so maybe Im being picky because your last efforts have been so fucking good.
Once again who gives a fuck about what i have to say.

Yeah a mellow number, that didn’t quite gell into anything sustaining to me,..there was a double kick beat that seemed to snag the tempo in areas, but I did LOVE the Venice effect, the rapid pick tickles on the string, that was lovely, a keeper,.. it is unfinished though, I’d reccomend a bit of structural overhaul, it was too plain as Jane, my mind wavered throughout, and I seemed to get the sense that both composer and singer were yawning towards the end of this one. Bits and pieces did spruik my interest though, it had it’s moments, but I think it was about time you were both due for a slight dip, after such a long streak of good servings.

Got it, Scrap this bad boy, a style overhaul is required and i hear the masses, unlucky, unlcuky nate, we shall bounce back from this let down, probably, or maybe not, i quite liked the style of this but its sure not to be, oh well, another one in the bin. Fruitless may it be, the pursuit of music gratification will always be beyond me……haha.

Ah suede, why dost though hurt me so. I really do like this song, definitely along my style line vocally and musically….but to each their own. I don’t think it’s necessarily an amazing song….but It did have a nice flow to it thanks to dave and was very fun to explore vocally with various lines. I think my favorite part of it is the chord voicings and layers that just blended a really cool jazzy, aesthetically pleasing to the ear kind of way (if that even makes sense). So kudos to you DJ. On to bigger and better things I hope and suppose. thanks for the comments and listens.

Awww,… it isn’t BAD at all,..it does have potential, I understand my comment gives off the auror of dissapointment, but after hearing it a few extra times what strikes me is the great start, this bit is the sweetest segment of the song ”two by two”, and it is repeated quite nicely aswell, but inbetween this, it then seems to plateau and stretch, I think my above comment was a little hazey, this tune I feel could be reserrected nicely if steered through extra variants, not neccesarily an insertion of more details or licks, but mix in some more breaks?, that tricky combination of maintaining a concurrent track while swirling the training up and down and around the hill, just wobble the wheels a little bit, shake it up a touch.
