DCWAVE – Desert Voice

I thought I would post an older song while I am mixing another one with my new singer…

About two years ago my wife was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor in her abdomen. That night I laid in bed wondering what the future would hold. I got up about 1 in the morning and drove a couple of hours into the desert and just sat on a rocky hill listening to the night sounds; the sunrise was one of the coolest I have seen. I went home and came up with this song. It is a couple of years old and its a mellow instrumental with orchestra, synths and guitar riffs. It mirrors my experience just laying there in the middle of nowhere and the feelings I was going through at the time..

This past Christmas my wife was able to successfully have her tumos removed and was given a relatively clean bill of health for the time being.

This instrumental is so brilliant,.. that I don’t want to call it an instrumental,.. it’s more like an experience, I was so absorbed by the atmospheric imagery that I could even get a sense of the dimensions of the landscape that was being sewn by your instruments through the verticies of the world around you,.. I could feel the pressure of the dark enhancing not only an acute sense of hearing but also a glowing auror of emotional turmoil, you’ve created the balance to perfection between the two, in a swirling multi-layer of whisps. Even as I am writing this post, my imagination is still swimming in this simulated world, like I have only just woken up from an intense dream.

There’s no extra ideas I can offer, as far as I’m concerned it’s perfectly alligned to the subject and sad circumstances from which it was created.

    98% from me,..
highest score I have ever given, and how could I not?.. it’s a MASTERPIECE, a work of art,..and I am greatful, and thankful you shared this with us,..and I hope to the most powerful extremes that you and your wife dont ever have to go through such a horrible worrying experience again mate.

Brilliant, brilliant work DC,.. don’t you go anywhere…it’d be cruel if you dissapeared from Freelabel now. lol

This is impressive very professional….And a little story to set the mood.. It is a bit of a tale and i can see this being a therapy for the ears…Beats listening to whales howling…
I think you have done really well here…It is a few years old but it is definitely timeless..I hope your wife has healed.
Its funny you know a lot of good artist go to the desert to think..In Australia our best painters are from the dessert.
    Good one this is nice.

i always comment grove…..there hasnt been too many i missed…..eg ( that Edgel has been SIMONIC lately) Simonic term to describe all take and no give.
I think simonic is a better term…As for this song i can hear the colours in the tones.

hahaha, c’mon hansford bro’s….lets take it down a notch….lol….just kidding…DCWAVE: nice panning in the beginning, sounds all very nice…..very professional sounding….i’m not sure anything on the site sounds this well mixed so far, so good job man! you know your progs well and have a good ear for mixing thats for sure….nice spacial recognition in this track although the multiple pans kind of distract from the ambience a little for me… synths sound cool, melodies like this dont seem to come naturally for me so another thumbs up….not too much i can say but i likes and can’t wait to hear more….

I’m still enthralled by this tune,.. it serves the very purpose an excellent instrumental should serve,.. such enriched imagery,.. broad atmosphere with vibrant rolling details of life sewing a 3 dimensional landscape together,.. all in interactive layers from the horizon, to the pressure of the darkness, leading into the internal struggle,..

and this all based on a true personal experience,.. it’s magnificent,..a true masterful work of art, and the only reason I didn’t mark it 100% perfect is because,.. I’m just not sure to leave any room for improvement or not?.. it’s perfect to me.. but,… could it get any better?.. I dont know,.. I leave the 2% remaining in wonder.

"damn.. this is good" – i feel this may be my default 1st line for many a more DCWAVE posts.. Truly impressed.. Have watched many big budget movies where they were going for this spacious, open, emotional feel.. you know the ones: movie intro, birds eye gliding landscape shot, to a mountain peak, then breaking into wide open space.. (hang on.. did i just describe a Discovery Channel special?) .. The majority of these scores sound cheezy to me.. this however – no cheese.. just really well conveyed imagery..
Its never a good comment in my book if i neglect to say what i didn’t like.. in this one (although excellent) I got a bit tired of the constant swells.. It gave the song space for sure, and it does convey the constant changing of emotions that i’m sure you were writing with.. but it got a little over distracting in my opinion.. I would have liked a stripped silence in there somewhere to really express the felling of confusion/contemplation/thoughtfulness.. not sure how to explain what i mean. umm.. .. A little section in the middle that breaks down, almost to nothing.. kind of like snapping out of your deep thoughts for a moment, then drifting back and becoming aware of the harmonious mass of noise the desert actually produces?? .. sorry for my terrible descriptions – i need some mangrove lessons on converting mental imagery into text.. .. .. loved the outro.. that fade actually made me sit and think for a while.. great writing and production mate.. teach me?

This instrumental would make a cracking background track in a sandbox video-game,.. like GTA San Andreas for example.. driving through those desert areas at night time,.. I might slip this sucker into the ”user track files’ folder on the custom in-car radio station,.. and quadtriple the pleasure from mission to mission.

Thanks so much for this GIFT of a track DC,..I cannot praise it enough, it’s a magical concoction.
