Political song.
In ancient Rome the government distracted the people with Bread and Circuses. This kept the people from rising up and overthrowing their government.
I think I might redo this song with some crunchy guitars chugging along.
A rare song with me singing and my kids doing background vocals

When I wonder how you were going to pull it off, you once again show your talent and experience,.. that was excellent, so very well encapsulated, loved the militaristic feel,.. the soldier steps marching across the headphones while the radio psychedelia beamed from ear to ear reminded me of Pink Floyd’s "The wall" …lol ….the precise and famous scene of the marching hammers,..fucken sensational,..although firmly your own, you had a calmer and more sane spirit than Pink Floyd, to me it sounded like a fusion of them together with Joy Division, and the 80’s techno-dance band ‘Information society’,.. this really was a masterclass when it comes to ‘atmosphere’ , your vocals were suitably clear and direct, I was wondering how the children’s voices would mesh, and they seemed very well schooled, the song had meaning and a message that can most certainly apply to this modern era, it is a very serious subject that eats me away on a daily basis, (which is why I made that song ‘Away from human beings’).. so I do know where abouts the ‘circus’ is implemented in the contemporary present.
95% from me, I’m not sure how others will view this beauty, but for me, it hits home audibly, visually, structurally and philosophically,.. brilliant work DC,.. in a league of your own mate.
wow.. I downloaded this without listening and had my music playing on random.. a few hours later, hearing the intro I thought to myself "ooo cool.. a Days of The New song ive never heard"… about 1min in it went all weird (for them).. i looked.. and it was DCWAVE?? good god.. Has the world gone mad??!?
I’m digging this… love pulsing subdued anthem vibe.. the bass work is killer.. synths are suitably sketchy and the quiet megaphoned/distorted vox rock.. Your kiids did killer, although the cutting was a little obvious towards the end..
Hard to fault.. and I kinda hate you for it… hahah.. hmm.. i feel I need to start rating DC’s stuff in a special category as it’s so far ahead of the chasing pack.. .. so…
In the the Pro League, i give it 78%
but as were all family here.. it’s a solid 92%
I absolutely LOOOVE the soldier march effect from left through the centre, then out to the right,..this had a real 3 dimensional sound, I repeat, a masterclass in atmosphere.
man, as the guys mention above, a really really well mixed atmosphere going here, i hear your trade mark delay effect on the vocals happening here and it has a great effect of creating space like i have never imagined which is really cool, the addition of your kids vocals really gives the track some girth and makes the track sound even more punchy which is also quite cool… I think the political view over did it for my views, kind of felt like i had a forcing voice rather than an implying voice, as in not giving the listener a choice in which direction the vocals can be interpreted….lol minor gripe but just what i felt during the multiple listens back through…man everything is so clean, i would like to hear some (dodgyness) lol, in your tracks, just some sort of mic’d up amps giving weird feedback and vocals being a little more random, but i must say this sounds like you do this for a profession so all in all is a really well done track, i’m actually interested in what mangrove mentions about the marching sound in the middle, what do you use? built in samples or some 3rd party royalty free site perhaps? what you using for synths etc? i’m sure you’ve probably enlightened us but that was the past so would love to know…mate, i’m going to give this one 85%, this is based on previous tracks and overall feel, i really like the way way you construct your tracks, i would love to do some collaboration at some stage if your if keen for it, i’m always keen to see what comes of different influences and writing and recording techniques….i’m sure the other guy’s on the site are the same..thanks for the submission DC, thoroughly enjoyed it…

Thanks for the feedback.
Marching FX – I used to do sound design for video games and I have done Foley for some indy films in the past so I have a monstrous library of custom FX that I have created. I also have about 200GB of commercial FX as well.
Synths – I only use 3 for the most part. Omnisphere or Atmosphere by Spectrasonics. Absynth by Native Instruments, and I use the synths in Reason. The majority of the sounds in this song are from Omnisphere, and Atmosphere.
The delay on the vox in this one is quite a bit longer than I would normally use to create space. I wanted it as an effect and so I used a touch of plate verb to help keep it from getting washed out. I think I actually delayed the return on the verb channel and not the direct source.
