DCWAVE – Border Crossing

 Acoustic  /  Classical

Here in the USA we have a small problem with illegal immigration from Mexico to the USA. It has created many a problem for both citizens of the USA and for those immigrants that end up having their families broken up once they get caught and deported.

This piece was designed to give a musical voice to the that sorrow that can ensue for both the families of the aliens, the citizens, and there is a bit of voice given to the human traffickers that profit from it.

Acoustic guitars, classical strings, horns, and haunting operatic voices are laced through out.

Nice, definitely illustrates your theme, the music has a mexican-style to it, and the classical section adds a nice woff of subtle emotions, this is one where you gotta appreciate the musical art of the message to which I do, as I did in desert voice,..it’s not one for the head-bangers who need to be stimulated with super-charged edges. But that can be a problem, feeling empathy of sadness is not something most people would want to volunteer themselves to feel with multiple listens,..but I view these sorts of compositions as a work of art, that’s what they must be judged on, and I definitely feel for those people, the message is accomplished and quite distinct so well done.

Only grife I suppose is, some of the transitions, noteably in the beginning seemed a little awkward and jerky, but for DC standards, not for ‘normal’ standards, professional DCWAVE standards they sounded a little like jamming a jigsaw piece into a hole that is just a touch wonky. The high operatic voice was nice, but felt it dominated a little too much at peak volume,.. but really, it was a very impressive, intruiging tune, full of detail, lucid, lovely implimentations where appropriate I in particular especially loved the horns when you introduced them, that was fabulous.

86% ,.. it actually sounds better the 3rd and 4th time you listen I notice, your tunes, I encourage everyone to give them more than a few listens, each time through, my mind captured more and more of the scene, top stuff mate, thanks so much for contributing!

Dang.. Is this all samples? Or are you just a secret closet freak on the classical guitar?

Very nicely put together. Your a hell of a song writer Mr DC. The sound is top notch, but it’s the composition of the whole thing that really grabs me. The symphonic orch stuff really meshes with the main guitar beautifully and the changes are perfectly flowing yet at times dramatically different. It wasnt breaking any bold new musical ground, but at the same time, it never needed to.

    Very impressive.

Brad – i did study classical guitar for two years – about 20+ years ago! In truth, I cannot play this song start to finish on the guitar. It was a collection of different parts I recorded at different times. There is one part that is a sample.

Thanks for the input Mangrove. There are a couple of transitions where I didn’t know where to go with it, so I just kept on going. I am sure everyone has a collection of songs that get going for 30 seconds and then you can’t figure out where to go – for me it is often when I am doing classical songs.
