Ok here we go….First actual post on the site that isn’t electro or something rubbish from 1989…lol not quite but you get the idea, and hasn’t it been a long time coming. Anyhoo i had alot of fun with this over the last week and hopefully you guys can let me know if i’m heading in the right direction…looking forward to the comments on this one.
*Vocal track added by Brad Green*

Supernovae, an illustrious pact, excellent atmosphere Daaaiyv, and a crucial threading point that is a curtesy for the listener’s attention, I had eyes like slits, I twinkled my fingers, and I curled my tongue back with joy,… I absolutely lust the insertion of the timed piano tab, beautiful, it reminds me of my favourite Beethoven composition, Moonlight Sonata, only there’s a definite distinction in sound and power, much required for the explosiveness of the supernovae,.. If there’s anything I would add, I feel perhaps,.. your trademark style, with the lacerating guitar slash, ..could have been pulled a little on the leasche to begin with, just to benefit meshing the steep change in key, just a slower acsent with your guitar, and THEN, by all means unleasche hell at the climax,..I think there’s a balance between the sheer force of celestial might, and the smooth delivery of a composition as a whole, that you could achieve with this,… it’s a great instrumental Daaaiyv, welcome back, I’m inquisitive for more, like the over enthusiastic chicken who has vegetable peels poured onto it’s back, tick pecking rumpled stuff, with lil wibbly red ears, but they’re not sore, they’re BLUSHING.
Goose bumps Dave a slight tingle down the spine lets say.
I think this song is an absolute ripper has a great feel and an ambiance that’s hollow and for filling. Then it cut to the Heavy grungy part i think you built it up very nicely and i can see you had put a bit of thought into it…..
Yes i am downloading this puplet.
$4.5 STAR.
Hopefully you have a bag full of this shit.
thanks guys, very kind words… i’m glad you both mention ambience as that was the big box i’m trying to tick, atmosphere even is something i’m a big fan of. I agree Jack about the heavy sections specifically the first taste being a little to much, the idea for the layout is – build up intro, drop verse build up, taste of chorus to come, drop main verse, full fledged chorus, finally drop out outro with a sinister twist. Unfortunately maybe the chorus taste does drop the bomb a little early which is what i was worried about…. This is really only the second proper cut of this and still in development, definitely hope to get some vocals happening on this but it think it holds it’s own as a instrumental, perhaps soundtracky kind of feel…One last thing with this is all parts of this song are guitar only, no bass, just playing with different sounds i can get out of my guitar even the pumpy bass swoop through the chorus is me manually doing that with my foot (took a few takes to get it right), anyhoo i’ve got some more recording already underway so crossed fingers it doesn’t let the high standard down already set by you guys…
i like this mate.. the clean sections are really good.. sounds like a simple melody until you notice its all a bunch of little underlying, back of mix pieces working so well together.. very hard to get that to work.. and youve done a fine job.. Would you have any objections if i played around and put a vocal track on it?
sweet.. the new version with my vocal overdub is up ! I really hope people like this because im really lloving it.. maybe because i just exported the song… but yeah… i like this… dave.. you painted a damn spanky canvas for me to work with… thanks man..
I have a 2 kilobite connection,… tell me what’s happenned?… is this song now changed…or… is there a seperate place to go to download the new version?.. … if I just download this again will I be able to hear the overdub?
the big neon "update" indicates that the link is new and clicking will get you the latest version..
dave sprinkled his geek dust and made it so… i stood by and clapped my hands… the vocals kick in about 50 seconds in.. be patient!.. lol..
brad is correct, hitting the same link now points to the updated version of the song….
Well,…… π …………… it was a nice effort Brad,.. but the problem is, in my opinion, that with Daiyv’s precise christening, and illustration of the starry might,.. the vocals dont really seem to suit this track, as this is very much an atmospheric groove that fulfills it’s own purpose, it’s designed very much as a lone instrumental, and it shows,… but,.. there’s no harm trying to remix Freelabel tracks,.. infact,.. the 1995 smash hit,.. "Missing" .. by the band… ‘Everything but the girl’ .. was actually a remix, the song barely charted when originally released in 1994,.. ..it was re-released again as a remix that sold millions and peaked at 1,..(maybe this is what you bastards should be doing, instead of thinking about covers!!!)..
i dunno.. the very 1st vocals dont really work.. but the softer "if we die as one will we mend this world?" variations and the "ooohh ahhh" harmony bit seem to sit really well to my ear.. gives the tune alittle more structure and direction.. if daves cool with it i might mess around some more and see if i cant make it work a bit better.. im thinking, ditch or alter the first 2 lines to be less dominating, and maybe mush the other lines with some heavier reverb and put them further back in the mix.. or i can withdraw all lyrics and repost as daves instrumental.. a fun experiment either way..
Yes, I reckon a "remix" section would help broth up the site like a sweet nutmeg curdler,..by all means slosh it up, a bubbly idea Brad, it can go next to the covers section, only, I hope one fills up with goodies, and the other doesn’t.
yeah i agree Brad after a few listens the first 2 lines don’t seem to sit as well as the others…so do we want me to make a remix section for stuff like this? i guess it probably makes sense as it may get confusing when we are updating songs a bit more…i think the other vocals on this work, i like the idea of further back in the mix as then it keeps more of a sound track feel, what do you guy’s think?
Daiyv, this song, along with Blime’s ‘logic test’ instrumental also gets my vote to be included in the best of freelabel volume 1,.. best 20 tracks,.. .. actually maybe we should all nominate a vote for particular tracks,.. everyone should make a list of 14, that’s how many I’ve nominated thus far. Then perhaps instead of the hall of fame, we could have a "Best of" index when everyone finally nominates 20 songs they think are the standouts.
Very very good….I love the octave guitar pedal effect in the sweetly distorted chorus…very nice vocal lines too.. Your guitar work in the verse is nice and clean, like brad mentioned during the skype discussion….simple yet filling. Perfectly put. I really respect players who know what little things to add to make up a fulfilling composition. Well done dave, you continue to impress me and in my opinion put me to shame in some respects π
Very, very, sweet stuff! Im no where near you guys as far as all this composing and wizardry with home studioamazingness…but hopefully I will pick up a crumb or two working with the BLOBINATOR. I really enjoyed the bloody lip I got when the heavy change showed up! I didnt see it coming. The oooh ahhhs are great, and i found myself a bit jealous of Brads vox…love to take a crack at it, keep em coming
